Who Is Teapot?
Teapot is Norwich based designer, Helen Stokes. She graduated from the Norwich School of Art and Design in 2003 and has for many years been designing and making things from environmentally friendly materials.
Teapot made her first tie bag for her sister-in-law during the final year of her degree which was sewn entirely by hand! Since then she has developed the design to be sewn by machine making a much sturdier bag.
Having always loved sending greetings cards to people, Teapot began to worry about the impact on the enviroment of sending mass produced cards, especially those manufactured from non-sustainable tree resources. So she decided to make her own having sourced recycled card and envelopes and even biodegradable display bags which can go on to your compost heap! She has acquired many many buttons mainly from her mum and mum-in-law as well as from friends who have kindly donated them, which feature in every card she makes. All buttons are used wisely from vintage styles to common shirt buttons. Teapot loves buttons!
The felt cuties are the latest range designed and made by Teapot. They are hand sewn using felt scraps again acquired from family and friends. Each felt cutie has their own little button just so you know that they are made by Teapot.
Teapot's cakes don't have buttons in them... unless they are of the chocolate variety! Teapot made her very first themed cake (a very basic jam and coconut covered loaf cake complete with plastic Little-Bo-Peep figure and lambs) at the age of seven. From there, she progressed to helping her mum decorate fondant icing covered cakes for family and friends. As she got older and more experienced she began to devlop her own methods and particularly enjoys designing bespoke and often quirky cakes (like nothing you will find in the supermarket).
